Artist's Statement
My art almost always starts with a point of interest and a labyrinth of research into literature, psychology, science, art, theory and philosophy of whatever the subject may be, and develops into a concept. Much of the works I create, although I aim for them to hold aesthetic qualities, need reading into and are site specific, holding great significance in their surrounding environments. I believe most of society gets too wrapped up in meaningless worries so I use nature a lot in my pieces and try to send a non-consumerist message. Lately this underlying theme throughout my projects has become predominant and been refined to press the importance of peace of mind and positive thinking. When I say peace of mind I mean it in the true essence of the term; to maintain mental freedom you should go into any situation with the anticipation of all possible outcomes and should be acceptant to all that may come, but keep on course and not let these outcomes incept your mental well-being. I also have a massive interest in Optical art and have taken to trying to formulate my own and with some, I feel have been successful.
